Eileen’s is named in homage to the inimitable Mrs Eileen Clatworthy, who owned Sawyers Arms Tavern for 68 years. Wonderfully charismatic, Eileen ran the hotel until she was 91 years old. Together with the Clatworthy family, Eileen elevated hotel dining in the Geelong region with an unparalleled commitment to great hospitality. Eileen’s is an intimate dining space with classic old world character. The interior design by Pip Johnson features a royal blue palette, tartan carpet and feature marble. The walls are peppered with intriguing photos and memorabilia of Geelong and its football club. Executive Chef Mario Tambalong has created a steak-focused menu with a decidedly European feel. Think steak tartare, marbled steak with Bernaise sauce accompanied by french fries in duck fat, and classic butter lettuce and vinaigrette salad. Finish with profiteroles, tiramisu or a cheese board. In preparation for a special occasion, Eileen’s guests will have the option of pre purchasing meat to be aged on their behalf. For instance, guests can plan ahead for a 120 day aged grass fed ribeye from O’Connor’s Meats, ready to share with friends and family. The wine list is extensive with a large range of national and international wines, a great selection of beers, spirits, cocktails and whiskeys.
